Self-Study Conversational Spanish

Using a hands-on approach to learning Spanish, both Spanish with Amigos and Medical Spanish has been intentionally designed to be very short and simplistic – with little grammar included – so that beginners can be successful right away. Each topic is immediately followed by role-play ideas and conversational exercises so that you can practice the vocabulary with your co-workers, family, and friends – making Spanish a fun, social activity.

The 4-level ¡A Conversar! conversational Spanish series was designed for the adult learner classroom, with each Level covering approximately 16 hours of instruction…perfect for community colleges and continuing education courses! The ¡A Trabajar! workbook, also for a 16 hour course, focuses on Spanish vocabulary specific to the workplace. 

The focus is on communication – not grammar – utilizing fun, and low-pressure activities, games, and exercises for “bridging the gap in comunicación.” 

Designed specifically for the adult learner who has never formally studied Spanish or for those who have traveled or studied a bit, but struggle to form sentences.

The Level 1 workbook and audio files (below) include greetings and introductions, colors, numbers, basic food ingredients and cooking actions, parts of the body, Spanish pronunciation, likes/dislikes, family, time, small talk, prices, and simple conversational language.

Designed for the adult learner who has taken a basic Spanish class in the past and wishes to improve conversational skills.

The Level 2 workbook and audio files (below) reviews Level 1, stresses conversational fluency and covers seasons, months, days of the week, date, clothing, weather, directions, descriptions of people, restaurant vocabulary, making telephone calls, and general conversational phrases.

Designed for the adult learner who has taken a basic Spanish class in the past and wishes to improve conversational skills.

Different verb tenses are introduced in this level–all taught with an emphasis on their use in conversation. In addition to building upon the vocabulary learned in Levels 1 and 2, the ¡A Conversar! 3 Workbook and downloadable audio files include vocabulary related to school, adjectives, comparisons, transportation, community buildings and places, feelings, giving suggestions and expressing opinions, time expressions, hobbies and sports, plus an introduction to several Latino holidays. ​

Designed specifically for the adult learner who has taken several basic Spanish classes in the past and wishes to improve conversational skills.

A variety of verb tenses are practiced in this level, as well as an introduction to reflexive verbs. In addition to building upon the vocabulary learned in Levels 1-3, the ¡A Conversar! 4 Workbook and downloadable audio files include vocabulary related to professions and university degrees, music and dance styles, animals, computers, money, household, asking for advice, clarifying expressions, slang/regional expressions, love and dating, health, and world issues.​​
